Vacancy_ Graduate Project Engineer Location_ ROYSTON Johnson Matthey has a exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Graduate Project Engineer to join our experienced team in Royston. Reporting to the Operations Manager (Refining), the Graduate Project Engineer will assume a key support role as part of a large project team driving the construction and commissioning of a new facility at Royston site. They will be required to co-ordinate the detailed design reviews, operational validation of new technology followed by the development and implementation of the commissioning program for the facility. Key responsibilities To ensure both your own and your colleague’s safety, by working in accordance to all relevant Production and Environmental, Health and Safety procedures To lead and participate in the escalation of key issues, presenting problem statements and documentation, as well as appropriate proposals for resolution and progress Review 3D process design model focussing on operability, maintainability & plant layout to deliver a right first-time refinery Work closely with the Project delivery team to optimise the final design and verify it will meet the requirements of the User Requirement Specification (URS) Monitor process trial parameters and specifications for all operational processes and recommend process changes to ensure operations are designed optimally Support development and training of work colleagues in the technical aspects of the operations Support the operation teams in the development of commissioning documentation for project Engagement of the workforce in the process design and effectively communicating changes in the operator role within the new refinery Support the operations teams in the development of SOP/SWES documentation for Project Support the organisational management of change process for impacted departments Support development of control strategies and definition of operation role within the new refinery Prepare weekly/monthly reports for the Project Launch Team, as required To carry out any other duties which are within the employee’s skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed Are you the ideal candidate? You will have_ Degree level in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering or other technical discipline or equivalent experience Experience of structured problem-solving tools and techniques (e.g. RCA, 5 why’s) High level of numeracy - working with systems and data, SPC control, statistical understanding would be advantageous High level of self-motivation with good time management and ability to work in a fast-paced environment Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office Ability to learn complex operations Ability to give and receive clear and unbiased information, using data to drive decision making Ability to build strategic, cross-functional working relationships Ability to communicate complex situations into clear and simple summaries for presentation to both operators and technical audiences How to apply_ Internal applicants should advise their line manager before applying.
