Graduate opportunities – Civil Engineering, Geography, Environmental Science, GIS or Mathematics

RPS Water are looking to recruit Graduates to be based from Newcastle. This role will see you being office-based working alongside professionals who are the forefront of the industry, opportunities to complete site work is also part of this opportunity 

The Water industry is exciting and evolving, providing challenges and opportunities which require innovation, dedication and team work, to help us meet our clients’ needs

The key purpose of the team is to use our deep expertise to solve problems that matter to our clients, such as the impact of growth and climate change on flooding and pollution. We carry out projects such as Drainage Area Plans, Sustainable Drainage Plans, Flood Risk Management Plans and Drainage and Wastewater Management Plans, including helping them develop their own procedures, processes and guidance.

Joining RPS Water you will be provided with in-depth on-the-job training, working in small teams to allow you to rapidly gain the skills required. You will take ownership of a project, manage your workload and technical quality with the appropriate supervision. We encourage graduates to rise to the challenge and push for progression through the business

Main Responsibilities:

  • Data handling and analysis
  • Survey planning and supervision
  • Extensive use of GIS, including software such as MapInfo, QGIS and ArcGIS
  • Construction, verification and analysis of hydraulic sewer network models using InfoWorks ICM software
  • Integrated catchment modelling, including pluvial, fluvial and interactions between rivers and sewers
  • Catchment planning, risk assessment and intervention strategy
  • Client and stakeholder engagement and management

Skills, Education & Qualifications required 

  • A degree in Civil Engineering, Geography, Environmental Science, GIS or Mathematics
  • Modules covering wastewater, hydraulics, GIS or flood risk are desirable but not essential
  • Good communication skills and written English
  • Ability to work in a team to solve problems that matter
  • Computing skills including previous experience of Excel

The deadline for applications is Friday 05th July, shortlisted candidates will be interviewed late July/early August with successful applicants starting in September .
