Responsible for managing maintenance and development of IT systems and other technologies used for delivery of Asset Management (AM) services. The AM services being the examination and assessment of railway civil engineering assets. Delivery will utilise both in house and external resources. Responsible for management of project delivery budgets, quality, programme and cost. Responsible for managing inputs from multiple stakeholders and contractors to deliver projects in accordance with Quality Plans and budgets.

The ideal candidate will be an inquisitive individual with an interest in developing their existing skill set and learning new skills. As the Junior Data Analyst, you will have the chance to work in a small team, within a wider Shared Services department, with the opportunity for personal growth in a professional environment. This position has responsibility for maintaining and issuing agreed reports to measure and support business performance in key areas and agreed service levels. Your output will influence key decisions and drive efficiencies across the business.

The purpose of this role is to extract, analyse and deliver Data to the wider business, whilst helping maintain the Shared Service systems used by Amey. The role will form part of a team that produces both regular and ad-hoc data and management information for senior management and other stakeholders. The chosen candidate will be responsible for maintaining and developing the companies Power BI platform – this will involve obtaining, visualising and analysing new data sources, working closely with senior stakeholders to implement changes, improving existing reporting and maintaining row level security.

Task & Accountabilities

  • Building, running and analysing reports from our core systems
  • Data collection and visualisation from a variety of in-house systems and third-party sources
  • Creating, maintaining and distributing dashboards/analytical tools (Excel/Power BI)
  • Interpreting data, analysing results and utilising statistical techniques to analyse a wide variety of data
  • Developing predictive analytic techniques
  • Provide support to the Shared Service Centre and the business by resolving technical issues
  • Working closely with stakeholders across the business to develop reporting
  • Involvement in projects and providing supporting data sets to assist with process improvements

Desirable skills and experience:

  • Prior experience in involvement in improvement projects
  • Experience with Excel Macros and VBA would be an advantage
  • Some experience using SQL at a basic level
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues and errors
  • Experience using report building tools
  • Experience of producing/building reports and analysing data
    • Advanced Excel Skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP’s and other advanced techniques)
