Working alongside a team of likeminded analysts, you will implement analytical techniques in a demanding and fast paced commercial environment. With an intuitive grasp of numbers, you will be passionate about driving innovative analytical thinking and will genuinely be excited about the benefits a Foods centric data driven approach can bring.

Through the use of advanced reporting and analytics, you will be providing the Supply Chain and wider functions with the ability to interact with and understand their key performance indicators. Enabling areas to make informed, accurate and timely decisions from targeted information.

You will be supporting Foods Supply Chain by exploiting our data to optimise commercial performance and information accessibility through analytics. You will be working with a number of Supply Chain functions to improve their understanding of how our business performs and where it can improve.


Key accountabilities and measures

Accountabilities:

  • Champion a culture of analytical ‘curiosity’ through the development of innovative data driven solutions to business questions.
  • Develop and prepare reports / insight for Supply Chain to monitor performance, and when needed present and illustrate findings to ensure key learnings are understood.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to fully understand requirements and provide collaborative solutions based on a commercial and analytical understanding.
  • Provide daily operational support ensuring all required reporting systems and applications are available to the user group.
  • Become an advocate for using data manipulation and visualisation tools.
  • Work collaboratively with the other analysts in the team to create a thriving analytics environment where knowledge and ideas are shared.
  • Deliver analytics priorities by consulting with key stakeholders across Supply Chain (e.g. Supply Chain Leadership and Management team, Store Performance, Forecast and Inventory Planners, Supply Chain Planners, Food Central Support).

Measures:

  • Recommendations provided have supported measurable improvements to Foods Supply Chain (e.g. availability, operational efficiencies, sales growth etc.).
  • Analytical output has influenced new ways of working across Supply Chain and the wider business.
  • Regular analysis and data products are innovative, accurate and delivered on time.
  • Increased the use and knowledge of data manipulation and reporting tools within the Supply Chain functions.
  • Feedback from key stakeholders across Foods Supply Chain and the Leadership team is positive.
  • Commitment shown to your Personal Development interest in improving technical knowledge and analytical skills.


Key skills

Essential:

  • Exceptional problem solving, analytical and numerical skills.
  • Experience visualising data and presenting analytics.
  • Knowledge of manipulating and transforming data sets and applying analytical methodologies.
  • Ability to interact with the business to understand their needs and interpret how they could be fulfilled using the available data.
  • Advanced MS Office skills (e.g. MS Excel, MS Access, Power BI, VBA, Power Query/Pivot/Point/Apps).
  • Experience with the following or similar applications is preferable: Spotfire, Tableau, Power BI, Business Objects, Relational Databases.
  • Enthusiasm and desire to learn new tools and techniques.
  • Knowledge of data-orientated and programming languages would be beneficial (SQL, R, Python).
  • Experience working in a fast paced and effective Analytics or Insight functions

Advantageous:

  • Exposure to Big Data environments such as Hadoop Impala / Hive / Azure.
  • Working knowledge of a Retail or FMCG organisation.
  • Knowledge of Food/Supply Chain systems and processes.
  • Previous experience in performing and maintaining data quality
