Your Move in cooperation with SCA - a major Swedish forestry, wood, paper, and logistics company - is looking for a SENIOR FORESTRY SPECIALIST with at least three years of previous experience in managing forestry registers and systems, including ISO 14001, FSC / PEFC, and Chain of Custody certification system management.

What will you do?

Your main job will be to implement, manage, and supervise forestry register and systems, analyzing and consolidating these as necessary in Latvia and Estonia, and coordinate forestry in the Baltics. You will also manage the certification systems ISO 14001, FSC / PEFC Forest Management and Chain of Custody of entire SCA group companies in Estonia and Latvia. Finally, you will be responsible for co-developing and implementing a new forestry strategy in cooperation with the SCA colleagues in Sweden. There are currently seven legal entities in Estonia and Latvia (SCA Metsad Eesti AS, SCA Rannametsad OÜ, SCA Metsavarad OÜ, SCA Mežs Latvia SIA, Baltic Forest IV SIA, Latvijas Mežu Kompānija SIA, and Vidzeme Egle SIA) all involved in the same business of forest management and sales of timber.

What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Forestry coordination and forestry strategy development and implementation in the Baltics together with colleagues in Sweden
  • Analysis, implementation, and management of forestry registers and management systems used in SCA's companies in Latvia and Estonia
  • Management and responsibility of the current certification systems: ISO 14001, FSC / PEFC Forest Management and Chain of Custody in all SCA group Baltic companies.
  • Responsibility for ensuring that all documents and work processes comply with the relevant standards.
  • Compilation and updating of all certification-related documents: handbooks, procedures, rules and reports and monitoring their follow-up.
  • Responsibility and oversight to ensure that all activities required by the standards are in place and compliant.
  • Training and coordination of staff in accordance with the requirements of the standards.
  • Knowledge of valid legislation and standardization requirements.
  • Knowledge of Baltic companies' internal rules and SCA group rules and procedures.
  • Enforcement of adherence to requirements and advising management on needed actions.
  • Maintaining professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, participating in professional societies.
  • Preparation of internal and external audits and communication with auditors.
  • Providing support to the management team in daily work.

What will you need to succeed in this job?

  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate field of study or equivalent work experience
  • Previous knowledge and experience in managing and implementing forestry registers and management systems
  • Thorough knowledge of ISO 14001 and FSC / PEFC Forest Management and Chain of Custody national and international standards and all related rules and sub-documents
  • Experience with the creation and management of environmental, forest management and chain of custody systems
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Readiness to travel in the Baltics
  • Good time management skills
  • Computer skills – experience with forest management programs and advanced-level Excel skills are an advantage
  • Problem analysis and problem-solving skills

  • Fluent English. Knowledge of both Estonian and Latvian is an advantage.
