Maintenance Technician Job Function and Purpose Personnel in this position are capable of performing on all routine and most non-routine equipment, and building and grounds maintenance work requirements. Maintenance Techs must work independently, communicate effectively, and provide guidance to other appropriate employees and contractors. Interpersonal skills of the mechanics are as important as the technical skills. Principle Activities Perform all plant activities according to plant policies especially in the safety, environmental, and quality areas. Perform and plan equipment installation and maintenance work. Provides off-shift coverage as required. Provides documentation of performed work per plant work order procedures. Attend plant and outside training sessions as directed. Provides plant equipment operation and troubleshooting expertise. Prepare parts requisitions and order parts. Perform site safety and GMP condition and behavioral safety audits. Ability to use hand tools and to lift up to 50 pounds without mechanical assistance. Must be able to wear PPE and use other safety equipment, i.e. fall restraint harness. Job Knowledge Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Ability to read blue prints and other drawings. Must be able to perform welding, plumbing, pipefitting, metal fabrication, and equipment troubleshooting. Must have technical knowledge of pumps, gear boxes, hydraulics, etc. Must be able to use the computer for data entry, work order system, email, etc. Must be able to interface with process employees as well as with contractors and vendors. Additional Skills Assist and perform problem solving. Be open minded with change. Follow procedures consistently and pay close attention to detail. Self motivated. Clear and complete communications. Maintain a clean and safe work area. Model a safety priority approach to all responsibilities. Respect all employees, contractors, visitors, etc.
